Monday’s MLB slate kicks off with afternoon baseball in Texas as the Rangers (53-52) host their AL West rivals, the Seattle Mariners (52-54), at 2:35 p.m. ET for the finale of their four-game series at Globe Life Field. The Rangers won the first two games of the series before the Mariners earned a 6-4 victory on Sunday, as Seattle looks to split the series with another win Monday afternoon.

The Mariners are 4-5 since returning from the All-Star break and snapped a four-game losing streak with Sunday’s victory. It was a much-needed win for Seattle after going a combined 2-9 with runners in scoring position through the first two games of the series, while its starting pitchers allowed five earned runs in each outing. While it still wasn’t perfect, as the Mariners went 3-12 with runners in scoring position in Sunday’s win, the offense collected 14 hits and was sparked by a four-run seventh inning that featured back-to-back home runs – a three-run blast by Dominic Canzone followed by a solo shot from Randy Arozarena.

The Rangers are also 4-5 since the break but found more success than Seattle through the first two games of the series with a 5-4 win in Friday’s opener and a 7-1 victory on Saturday. It was a quieter performance for Texas on Sunday, as the offense recorded just six hits and the bullpen couldn’t hold on after Jacob deGrom pitched five innings of one-run baseball.

Former No. 3 overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft Kumar Rocker is set to take the mound for Monday’s finale as he looks to build on his impressive last start, when he tossed six scoreless innings while allowing just one hit in a win over the Chicago White Sox. Veteran right-hander George Kirby is expected to make his 20th start of the season for the Mariners, and he too is coming off six scoreless innings in his last outing against Cincinnati.

Both teams are battling for the top spot in the AL West, with the Rangers currently holding a 1.5-game lead over the Mariners. Houston is also in the mix, sitting two games behind Texas entering Monday’s action.

Rangers vs. Mariners Best Bet: Randy Arozarena Over 0.5 Hits (-180)

Randy Arozarena was selected to his second consecutive All-Star Game this season and the third of his career as he continues to put together a solid year at the plate with a .284 batting average, 12 home runs, and 46 RBIs. The veteran outfielder is batting .290 in July and .321 over his last seven games.

Arozarena enters Monday riding a four-game hitting streak, including a 3-5 performance with a solo home run in Seattle’s 6-4 win on Sunday. He’s also recorded at least one hit in each of his last eight games against American League opponents.

While Arozarena has yet to face Kumar Rocker this season, he’s 2-6 with one RBI against him in previous meetings. Rocker is coming off one of his best starts of the season, but he allowed eight hits and seven earned runs just two outings ago and has had several shaky performances this year.
