The Colorado Rockies (41-63) and Milwaukee Brewers (64-38) meet for the second and final time during the regular season as they open a three-game series on Friday night. The last time these two teams faced one another was in early June, when the Brewers completed a three-game sweep at Coors Field.

The Brewers enter Friday in first place in the NL Central and trail only the defending back-to-back World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers for the best record in MLB. Milwaukee’s nine-game homestand to open the second half of the season continues after sweeping Miami in three games and then taking two of three from the New York Mets, including a 4-3 victory in Wednesday’s series finale.

After finishing the 2025 season with a historically poor 43-119 record, the Rockies already have 41 wins this season. However, that is still good for the worst record in MLB, as they sit 22 games below .500 and in last place in the NL West. Colorado is 2-4 since returning from the All-Star break and hasn’t won a series since its 2-1 victory over San Francisco from July 3-5.

Friday’s series opener in Milwaukee features Rockies right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano and his 4.76 ERA against Brewers rookie left-hander Shane Drohan, who is set to make his 21st appearance and 11th start of the season. This will be Drohan’s 10th consecutive start, and he owns a 3-3 record with a 3.86 ERA as a starter this year.

Brewers vs. Rockies Best Bet: Christian Yelich Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI (-150)

Christian Yelich missed time earlier this season due to injury, but the veteran has been back in Milwaukee’s lineup consistently since mid-May. While the former MVP isn’t necessarily putting together his best offensive season, Friday’s matchup presents a favorable opportunity.

Tomoyuki Sugano is allowing left-handed hitters to bat .278 against him this season and has surrendered 12 of his 18 home runs to lefties. Sugano allowed three earned runs, including two home runs, in his last start against Cincinnati and gave up eight hits and seven earned runs, including two more home runs, two outings ago against Minnesota. He has now allowed at least one home run in five consecutive starts and has given up 32 hits over his last 27.1 innings pitched.

While his overall numbers still aren’t great, Yelich has recorded at least one hit in eight of his last nine games, including a 2-for-5 performance with a triple and two RBIs against the Mets on Wednesday.
