The 2026 NCAA Tournament comes down to a meeting between college basketball‘s most decorated program of the past quarter century and the sport’s most dominant team this season. The No. 2 Connecticut Huskies and No. 1 Michigan Wolverines are set to face off on Monday night in Indianapolis, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.

The Huskies have been here before. UConn has won six national titles, all coming since 1999, and Monday represents a chance at a third in four years. The Wolverines, meanwhile, haven’t cut down the nets since 1989 but enter tonight’s game as a considerable favorite to end the program’s championship drought.

Here’s a look at the matchup, the current odds, and where the money is going at Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook.

No. 2 UConn vs. No. 1 Michigan

Michigan has been the most complete team in the country all season. The Wolverines went 19-1 in the Big Ten and enter the championship game at 36-3 overall, having won every tournament game by double digits. Their 91-73 dismantling of Arizona in Saturday’s semifinal was as convincing as the final score suggests, as Michigan led by as many as 24 and never let the Wildcats hang around. Michigan star forward Yaxel Lendeborg did exit that game early but carries no injury designation heading into Monday night.

UConn has managed to survive rather than dominate this tournament, but Dan Hurley would probably tell you that’s fine. Their path to the National Championship included a 73-72 escape act against No. 1 overall seed Duke last weekend – a game that ended on a buzzer-beater – and a 71-62 semifinal win over Illinois on Saturday that was never quite as comfortable as the box score makes it seem.

The two teams offer a genuine contrast in styles: Michigan’s pace and size against UConn’s structure and defensive identity. Something has to give.
