What’s up, guys? Happy Wednesday. Welcome to a new episode of the Daily Juice Podcast.
The month of March is now gone. Welcome to April – my birthday month. I am a full-blown, 100% Aries. Like, when you look up the definition of an Aries, that is who I am.
I’m not even going to humor you by putting the record up from last night. It was 1-0. We won a unit. The Boston Bruins won. They beat the Dallas Stars 6-3. They got it done.
The big news isn’t just that we won a bet – it’s that the other plays I talked about also hit. The Detroit Pistons play, the Pittsburgh angle, and two NBA plays I mentioned all came through. We hit two NBA bets. It was a good night. A much needed night. It felt good to get back on track and build some confidence heading into April.
However, I know better. I’m not going to come out firing like crazy.
Here’s what today looks like:
- Two futures bets
- Two official plays
- An NCAA Tournament semifinal breakdown later today on the college basketball show
I’ve also got another NBA play, a baseball play, and a Crown bet from Vegas. Plus, I’ll touch on the NIT semifinals (not official).
And we’ve got a Hard Rock Bet of the Day.
UConn to Win National Championship (+650)
My first bet for today is an NCAA Tournament future.
Do you guys know Dan Hurley’s record? How about UConn’s record? Dan Hurley is 10-0 against the spread – not straight up, ATS – in the second weekend or later. That is the best mark of any head coach in the seeding era. At UConn, Hurley is 14-0 ATS in the Round of 32 or later. In fact, UConn is 6-0 straight up and 6-0 against the spread when they make the championship game. They’ve never lost it.
I mean, that is insane when you stop and think about the way this team has played and what they’re capable of doing. UConn is 12-1 straight up and 11-2 against the spread overall in the semifinals in its program history.
But can UConn beat Illinois? That’s the question. It’s the only thing we have to answer.
Rather than taking the two points with UConn +2, I’m going to take +650 on UConn to win the national championship because if they win and beat Illinois, they’re not going to be that big of an underdog to either Arizona or Michigan.
To me, the best play for the rest of the tournament is UConn to win the national championship at +650, for one unit.
Detroit Pistons to Win NBA Championship (+3000)
Let’s talk about the Detroit Pistons. Why is this number so high? I don’t really understand it.
The Pistons just went toe-to-toe with the Thunder. They lost in overtime, but that was enough. Once I saw that, I said, okay.
We’re talking about a team that’s 55-21, 10-4 against their own division, 35-12 against the Eastern Conference. The Pistons, Celtics, and Knicks have all clinched playoff spots.
The Pistons are 7-3 over their last 10 games. They have an average point differential of 7.9. That’s the best in the Eastern Conference.
All we need is for them to get to the Eastern Conference Finals. That’s it. Can they win two playoff series? I think they can.
We already have the Celtics at 16-1. Let’s go with the Pistons at 30-1. I don’t like the Knicks, Cavs, or Sixers. I think Detroit is being slept on.
Give me Detroit at 30-1 to win it all for one unit.
Oklahoma -9 (The Crown)
Now to the Crown in Las Vegas. Oklahoma is playing Colorado. This number opened at -5.5, now it’s -9.
Why? Colorado has been crushed by the transfer portal. Three of their top four scorers are gone – over 40 points per game lost.
Oklahoma hasn’t lost anyone. Continuity matters. There’s also prize money involved here. Oklahoma cares.
They covered their last seven games. They were hot down the stretch.
Colorado? Doesn’t matter. Half their team is gone.
Give me Oklahoma -9 for 1.1 units.
Hard Rock Bet of the Day: Dodgers -1.5 (-115)
Let’s talk MLB. I’m on the Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 run line at -115. They’re facing Gavin Williams and the Cleveland Guardians. In his first start, he went five innings and gave up three earned runs in a 5-1 loss on the road against Seattle.
Cleveland did beat the Dodgers earlier in the series. The Dodgers are 4-1, Guardians at 3-3. They lost 4-1 last night and they’re facing Yamamoto. He went six innings and gave up five hits and two earned runs to lift LA to an 8-2 win against Arizona.
I think you’re going to see a very similar type of score here. I don’t expect a lot of offense out of the Guardians. And we’re getting a price that I think you have to take advantage of. I don’t think we’ll get the Dodgers run line at home around -115 too often this season.
For my Hard Rock Bet of the Day, I’m taking the Dodgers on the run line at -115 for 1.15 units.
Final Card
My plays for today:
- UConn to win the NCAA Tournament (+650)
- Pistons to win the NBA Championship (+3000)
- Oklahoma -9 (The Crown)
- Dodgers -1.5 (-115)
