the wedding parlay

Last weekend, the NFL regular season came to a dramatic close with a true sliding doors moment in Pittsburgh, where the Baltimore Ravens missed a 44-yard field goal as time expired. That single kick sent shockwaves across the league, impacting teams, coaches (could John Harbaugh be Miami-bound?), players – and sports bettors. Perhaps none felt it more than Hard Rock Bet Sportsbook player Angel from Daytona Beach, who cashed what he referred to as the “Wedding Parlayon that final kick.

Building a $27,000 Parlay

Angel placed a 7-Bet NFL Division Winner parlay on November 25th. He thought he saw value, and he was right.

The Broncos and Patriots were the first teams on the ticket. He tacked on a few teams that had been playing well, like the Bears. He looked through the remaining schedules, and “followed the value“. The Seahawks and the Panthers were viewed as the “sketchiest” at the time, but the odds reflected that.

After picking seven of the eight divisions, omitting only the NFC East as the Eagles had just lost to the Cowboys, he felt content, dropped $10 on it and liked the look of the $27,259.62 potential payout.

And then the weeks went by… and the bet started to look better and better.

Angel and his fiancée began referring to it as the ‘Wedding Parlay‘ as he turned down the evolving cash out offers, eyeing the full $27K. With the pieces falling in place perfectly, it would all come down to the Steelers beating the Ravens in the final regular season game of the year… and we know how that turned out.

The “Wedding Parlay” Interview

We were fortunate enough to sit down with Angel this week and learn about his unforgettable NFL parlay.

Angel, incredible parlay hit. Tell us how you did it.

Angel: So I kind of just started going through the remaining schedule for each team that I wanted to go with, and the teams they were playing against. It was one of those things where I really just followed the value for the most part. I went through every division and followed the value.

Twenty-seven is my favorite number — it’s my dad’s birthday. So as soon as I saw it was $27,000, I was like, you know what, this might be meant to be.

As it started getting a little more serious, my fiancée and I — we’re hoping to get married — and she was probably my biggest supporter. She just kept saying, “Angel, keep riding it out. You never know. It’s a big opportunity if you can hit it.”

That primetime game between the Ravens and Steelers — even without the parlay on the line — was one of the greatest games I’ve ever seen. As soon as they snapped it and he kicked it, it started drifting right. And literally as soon as we saw it just keep going right, we erupted.

It was one of the most insane experiences of our lives. We were jumping, yelling — it was crazy. Especially knowing that parlay could help pay for a wedding. It was awesome.

Who would be your Super Bowl pick right now?

Angel: The Los Angeles Rams against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

What would you say to all those parlay bettors out there? There are a ton of people chasing that big hit — what’s your advice?

Angel: Sometimes it’s really all about luck. Everybody follows sports and thinks they know what’s going to happen, but I really had no idea how it was going to play out. You never know. Sometimes things are just meant to be. I think it’s always worth a shot.
