When is an over-under scored as a push/draw?

An over-under will settle as a push, with wagers refunded, if the total of the game exactly matches the line that was bet. For example, if the total for a football game is 41 points and the game ends with a score of 27-14, exactly 41 points, the wager would be returned as a push. As a result, over-unders are commonly set with half points in the lines. For example, 47.5 points. If there is a half point then there is no outcome that will result in a draw/push as it's not possible to score half points. The total number of points will either be greater or less than the posted line.

How does overtime effect an over-under bet?

Generally speaking when betting totals overtime is viewed as an extension of the game. Any points scored in overtime will count towards the over-under, unless specifically stated otherwise. For example, an elimination soccer game might specify that the wager is for 90 minutes + stoppage time, excluding extra time and penalties.

What does under 49.5 mean?

It means in order for this wager to win, the game must end with 49 or fewer points (anything under 49 will do!). This is a good example of what a typical under line might look like for a football game.

What does .5 mean for an over-under bet?

A half point incorporated into an over-under wager is very common. It simply means there will be no push. Since it's not possible for a team to score half points, if a total is set at 45.5 it means that either the unders will win if 45 or fewer points are scored, or the overs will win if 46 or more points are scored. With a half point in the total it is impossible for the bet to push.

Is a total bet the same as an over-under?

Yes, these are two different ways to refer to the same type of bet. If you're betting the over-under you are also betting on the point total, and vice versa.

Can you bet the over-under on props?

Yes, absolutely. This is one of the most popular ways to engage with an over-under.
